چکیده

ÐThis paper presents a stereo algorithm for obtaining disparity maps with occlusion explicitly detected. To produce smooth and detailed disparity maps, two assumptions that were originally proposed by Marr and Poggio are adopted: uniqueness and continuity. That is, the disparity maps have a unique value per pixel and are continuous almost everywhere. These assumptions are enforced within a three-dimensional array of match values in disparity space. Each match value corresponds to a pixel in an image and a disparity relative to another image. An iterative algorithm updates the match values by diffusing support among neighboring values and inhibiting others along similar lines of sight. By applying the uniqueness assumption, occluded regions can be explicitly identified. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm, we present the processing results from synthetic and real image pairs, including ones with ground-truth values for quantitative comparison with other methods. Real-time Stereo Vision and Obstacle Location on single FPGA for Miniature Navigation

In this paper, we present a cooperative stereo vision algorithm with three cameras for dense disparity mapping and occlusion detection. Based on nonlinear iteration and multiple cameras, the disparity maps are smooth and the object boundaries are accurate. Occlusions for each stereo pair are detected effectively by examining the iterative inhibition and magnification of the matching evaluation....

Analysis of Disparity Gradient Based Cooperative Stereo - Image Processing, IEEE Transactions on

This paper argues that the disparity gradient subsumes various constraints for stereo matching, and can thus be used as the basis of a unified cooperative stereo algorithm. Traditionally, selection of the neighborhood sulpport function (NSF) in cooperative stereo was left as a heuristiic exercise. We present an analysis and evaluation of three families of NSF’s based on the disparity gradient. ...

Occlusion and Error Detection for Stereo Matching and Hole-Filling Using Dynamic Programming

Occlusion is the key and challenging problem in stereo matching, because the results from depth maps are significantly influenced by occlusion regions. In this paper, we propose a method for occlusion and error regions detection and for efficient holefilling based on an energy minimization. First, we implement conventional global stereo matching algorithms to estimate depth information. Exploit...

A Spatial-temporal Analysis of Matching in Feature-based Motion Stereo

Motion stereo is a stereo image acquisition method which takes successive images of a scene from a moving camera. The important assumption is that the motion is a simple translation and its parameters are known. Matching in motion stereo is fundamentally similar to conventional binocular stereo matching, where the major issue is the correspondence problen~. With few constraints, stereo matching...

Occlusion Detection Using Warping and Cross- Checking Constraints for Stereo Matching

In this paper, we propose an occlusion detection algorithm which estimates occluded pixels automatically. In order to detect the occlusion, we obtain an initial disparity map with an optimization algorithm based on the modified constant-space belief propagation (CSBP) which has low complexity. The initial disparity map gives us clues for occlusion detection. These clues are the warping constrai...
